I'm Back!

not from anywhere in particular, just back on the WWW.

so turns out my laptop had a RAM problem, they changed the RAM and it’s working like a gem now. i feel so relieved! it was initially thought to be a logic board problem, which would have been disastrous! >_<

simply meaning, i would have had to buy a new laptop… thank god i don’t; well not yet at least.

sarah and meee. we always do this when i’m there. usually…

on saturday i took Baileys to get his nails clipped for the first time… $12!!! and guess what? after that i went to Pet Lovers and found out they clip nails for FREE. seriously it was like a kick in the head! at least i know now right? oh well….

here’s Baileys just chilling in his new playpen!

i finally found some PVC sheet to line the floor so he won’t make a mess… even if he does, i’m the one who does the cleaning… it’s not as non-slip as i wished it would be. he still slips when he runs fast…

and he likes to play chase!

mummy was just walking by but he followed her, so finding it amusing she walked backwards, and he followed! after that we started running back and forth and he’d follow from corner to corner. but he tends to take alot of shortcuts! lol! he’s one problematic rabbit, first it was the sneezing, he still sneezes, but he really seems normal otherwise. recently i noticed the fur around his neck was thinning!!! i’m praying it’s not mites, cos his area is kept clean… and because i used the powder bath some time ago, i can’t tell the difference between powder residue and dandruff from mites! URRRRGGGHHHHHH :(

and this morning, i woke up and went outside to be greeted by fumigation fumes!!! the rubbish chute wasn’t closed properly and the fumes creeped in and filled the house! i panicked and ran to check if Baileys was okay! thank goodness, up till now, he still seems normal. i hope he didn’t inhale too much of the fumes! don’t they warn people about rubbish chute fumigations around here??? sheeeesh.

anyway back to the weekend, i actually developed a fever on saturday night. within 2 hours it went from 37.6 to 38.5! i took 2 biogesics and 3 packs of herbal tea and just lay in bed feeling like crappp… thankfully i was feeling better by sunday afternoon, in time for mass and dinner at Manhattan!

this is the 1-for-1 lobster platter deal at $28.80!

i won’t deny, it is a good deal.. but i didn’t really like the sauce they used on top of the lobster…. i still like my lobsters just plain steamed or baked with lobster… think fisherman’s wharf in sydney!  but we ended up getting two $10 vouchers so looks like we’ll be back at Manhattan pretty soon again anyways…

but something on the way home really killed a good meal…

someone threw up in the train! urgggghhhhhhhh

this was the closest i was willing to go to get a shot of the mess… it was actually funny to see how singaporeans would rush to get to the seat, only to get close enough to see the mess on the floor… oh the horror! i had a few good laughs myself :)

please, if you’re not feeling well, carry a couple of plastic bags with you. if you didn’t mean to throw up, at least clean up your own mess before getting off! it’s just plain unethical! no?

So what if it's Friday?

i hand-carve the designs using normal erasers… i’m gonna be using these to stamp on gift tags! i’ll tell you girls more about that soon enough, definitely in time for christmas gift-giving and tagging!

gosh i wish i had more time, but i hate that ben isn’t booking out this weekend. and i just got free passes to go to FOAMO at Zirca later… monday please come soon! but not before i finish answering the massive list of interview questions for PENNY’S DAY BOOK november feature!

i know i said i was gonna put up the new hair accessories yesterday, but i haven’t! can’t remember what distracted me but hopefully, friday. otherwise, over the weekend.

…34 days to POP!

Weekend Styles…

denim shorts with black tights?

image from : http://dresseduplikealady.blogspot.com

i was in town yesterday and saw at least 3 girls spotting this style… not with the wooly throwover of course, our weather is way too hot for that! instead, throw on a comfy loose tee shirt for a chic yet laid back look for the weekend!

i wonder where this trend started… i know i’ve seen this in tons on tons of korean fashion sites!

CO-D25

which reminds me, i’ve been hunting for a nice pair of denim shorts that (hopefully) don’t look too “battered” and “worn” cos my mum wouldn’t hesitate to toss it in the bin…

anyone seen any decent ones around lately?

TIGER TRANSLATE!

they get you to put on silly accessories like afros, huge shades, bid bead necklaces, big hats and then they take two polaroid shots.

YOU GET TO KEEP THE ONE YOU LIKE BETTER!

and then the other one gets stuck in a “scrap book”… you’re supposed to write or draw things that represent what you wanna change in 2009. but if like us, you are suddenly thrown into the unknown, then just draw whatever you feel like drawing!

so we just left some love! : )

worth checking out if you have the time! TIGER TRANSLATE is located at the open space outside Plaza Singapura!

service standards, or the lack of it.

picture-9picture-111

the other day i was out shopping and passed by cotton on ( i won’t say which outlet)… they were having a massive sale so i decided to pop in. the place was packed with kiasu singaporeans all wanting to grab the last sizes but i managed to find a couple of tops i wanted to try. i saw this purple floral vintage looking top in a size M, and i knew for sure it’d be too big… in hope of getting a small size, i decided to ask one of the sales girls if she could check for sizes, this is roughly how the conversation went…

me : i really love this top but its a size M, way too large for me. would you still have a size small somewhere by any chance?

(not without even batting a lid she said)

sales girl : oh, no more already! the sizes are all outside!

me : i know they’re all outside, what about the fitting rooms? perhaps someone tried and it hasn’t been returned to the shelf?

sales girl : oh, that i’m not sure. you want you can go and find.

me : right, thanks.

it’s not like she was busy scampering around helping other customers with their needs, she was just standing there refolding the clothes. that shows just how much their customers mean to them. i personally have a thing for service standards, having been train for half a year at The Ritz Carlton and working there for over 2 years, i definitely know what service means and i get really pissed when people who are employed to serve customers simply do not do their jobs! it’s blooody annoying!

well i then decided i would try the medium anyway, cos i could do the alterations myself since i loved the top so much.

while i was queuing for the fitting room, another sales girl walked pass with the same top in her hands, it was a size XS. PERFECT! i grabbed it off her hands, but i was getting more mad because now i had the size i needed, and yet the sales girl didn’t even bother checking for me.

if that’s not bad enough, when i got closer to my turn, i saw yet another of the same top hanging on the fitting room door. i thought to myself, if that is a size small, that sales girl is seriously screwed. and what do you know? that was the very fitting room i went into when it came to my turn and the top was a size small. WOW.

when i was done trying the pieces i picked out, i went straight to another sales girl and asked for the manager or in charge. trust me, i was FUMING. so i told her about what a help her staff was and that i was seriously disappointed. but all she had to say was, “oh cos we’re also having a sale now so most of them are busy and they are not supposed to leave their stations unless i give them permission to”

for god’s sake, don’t tell me about leaving stations, and don’t tell me about being busy, thus having no time to attend to a customer’s needs. i’ve been there and done all that and gained lots of merits to boot.

the conclusion?

the service standards in singapore are just not there. really, it’s sad! people who do not have the passion to serve should never join the service industry. be it f & b or retail. cause apart from being a total grouch at work, you’re just gonna upset all the customers who expect you to do what you’re actually paid to do.

BE OF SERVICE.

otherwise, just sit yourself behind a desk and deal with boring paper work. cause if you ask me, the service industry is where the real fun is.
