5 days into 2013.

Time flies really fast these days, too fast, perhaps?

It feels like just yesterday that we were preparing for Christmas, but the 12 days is almost over and we’re already 5 days in to the new year; not to mention it’s already the first weekend of 2013. Really?

I’ve been trying to make the most out of everyday. I want to live in such a way that, if my life were a novel, there won’t be a single boring day. Saturdays are meant for sleeping in just a wee bit longer. :)

“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn’t it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.” Neil Gaiman, The Sandman vol.9: The Kindly Ones.

The transition from being in a hopeless holiday mood back to work is not an easy one, I’ve been trying to come up with new designs every day to beat the holiday bug. And if you haven’t heard, I’ll be launching The Perpetual Spring’s “Luxe Editions” next week! :)

My first paper flower bouquet is sitting pretty in my room, with a slight hint of Vera Wang’s “Princess” fragrance. Wouldn’t you want these in your home? They last a lot longer than fresh blooms, and have a softer, warmer feel than artificial flowers. Did I mention you can use them as fresheners with a tiny spritz of perfume? *grin

“Someday”, she said. “Someday, I’ll meet you in a pretty white dress & a bouquet of pastel flowers in my hand.”

A league above paper bouquets, the satin blooms. I’ve wanted to go into weddings since like forever. It’d be great if I could use my own wedding as a try out but no, not anytime soon for me. If you know anyone who needs anything at all for a wedding, and would like to try something different from store bought bouquets, please feel free to drop me an email. (jeanine@jeaninegabrielle.com)

Corsages, bridal bouquets, money boxes, ring pillows, floral hair accessories for the bridesmaids, I’d love to try them all! Really!

Teal bouquets for a Tiffany-themed wedding, perhaps?

We say we love flowers, yet we pluck them. We say we love trees, yet we cut them down. And people still wonder why some are afraid when told they are loved.” – Brandi Snyder

This week tons of stuff arrived for me! (Partly cos I’ve been OD-ing on retail therapy) My latest online order from Cotton On, sponsored products from Bioré and Organix, and then there was this mysterious package that was oddly light. To my absolute surprise, it was a bunny from one of my regular customers, Ronelle.

The package arrived when I was working on this fabric flower, so naturally I had to pin it on the bunny for a snapshot!

She even wrote me a thank you note; to be honest I was on the verge of tearing. It’s just the little things like these, you know? It makes you feel like you are actually appreciated for what you do, even if someone else doesn’t. There will always be people who will stand behind you and be that push you need sometimes, there are people who will always have faith in you even when you’re at your lowest. We just need to believe it, and more importantly, believe in ourselves.

To others it might be just a stuffed toy, but it’s really the thought and the effort that counts. I guess working doubly hard through the festive period to meet all those orders paid off after all. Which reminds me of another bunch of customers, but I’ll save that for later. I’m just thankful to have such warm customers to work with.

LOVE YOU ALL! And for that I promise even more awesome stuff in 2013! :)

The harshness that is the reality of life. Admit it, we’ve all felt hopeless at some point. If you noticed, Snowy’s heavy paws actually do a pretty good job keeping the page down! Who said stuffed toys are only for kids, huh?

And of course, Fifi. Resident cutie pie and my “in-house model”, occasionally. What a face, I still wish toys could come alive. Oh, imagine all the fun we’d have! Imaginary friends, they never leave.

2013 has been pretty good so far I reckon, apart from stabbing my finger yesterday and burning myself two days ago, everything else is looking rather peachy. I’ll be doing another post soon about how to get the most out of your shopping, DIY style. Now let me go hunt down some new shoes to match all my new threads! Later! xx

Decked in White.

Christmas day OOTD.

I had totally forgotten about this gorgeous Miu Miu-inspired clutch I got over a year ago while I was sorting out my stuff the other day, I know, how could I forget I have such a pretty bag? Paired it with a “vintage”, well, hand me down white bodycon dress that belonged to my sister, and my Marc Jacobs time piece. I’m still trying to grow into the dress tho, it’s still a tad loose for me since I’ve been losing weight more so than putting on any kilos at all, but classy, definitely.

I reckon a haircut is in order, it’s already grown to my hip level. Oh the horror.

I’m still trying to convince myself I deserve another day or two of rest before I dive head on into work, and I can’t believe I still haven’t gotten my scheduler for 2013! There’s so much I want to do in the new year, although I have yet to solidify my new year’s resolutions, (like anyone really sticks to them anyway) I definitely need to get my life back on track once and for all. Let’s just say 2012 turned out to be a lot less than pleasant; sure there were good times, but still not enough to equal out the bad. :/

Oh wells, I’m gonna try to start with one resolution tonight, and that’s being in bed before 1am. Read about my christmas bakes soon!

Merry Christmas everyone! ♥ xx

Eat my heart.

Honey pancakes with buttered bananas and strawberries.

Made a beeline for the kitchen last week during the public holiday, and realised how much I miss whipping up yummies from time to time. This time I added about three teaspoons of HONEYSPREE‘s Creamy Clover Honey to my pancake batter for a slight hint of natural sweetness. I really love the fact that they are adorably heart-shaped, you can get the pancake mold from Daiso! Pretty sure it works with eggs too, although I have yet to try that.

If you missed my previous pancake post containing the recipe I used, >>> ♥ READ IT HERE ♥ <<<

Sometimes following recipe measurements isn’t enough to make it good, the right amount of milk so they don’t spread too thin, the quality of the flour and eggs can determine the taste… How much butter to use so it doesn’t stick to the pan and yet not turn out too greasy, and then you still have to know when to flip it so it doesn’t burn. It’s much like everything else in life, making pancakes; it takes practice to get it right. But when you put a few things together correctly, with the right treatment, in the right amounts, you’ll always get something good that will be well worth the effort. :)

Have a great week ahead! xx

Dinner with an old friend at The Pizza Place

We had to grab a quick bite before the Esquire event so Alvin suggested The Pizza Place. I’ve been to Raffles City many times, but I have never noticed this little outlet tucked away in a corner, not until now!

I would have loved to try the pizza at a pizza place but the personal sized pizzas were sold out, so I just had some sides instead. This little corner has some pretty decent bites!

For one, I was really happy they have truffle fries! A bowlful for S$6.80! I wonder if they do take out.. Hmmmmmm

Alvin had Meatball Pasta which was good apparently, but the color of the meatballs really scares me. I won’t say what I think they look like so… go figure. ^_^

I had an order of these cheesy meatballs since I wasn’t too hungry… Very yummy! Wish we weren’t in a rush to finish though, these were piping hot out of the oven and it took more than 5 minutes to cool down enough for me to bite into!

Alvin and his EXTREMELY belated birthday gift, the Mario piranha plant, which is now his favourite and uhmmm perhaps only, pet plant. Handmade by yours truly. :D

See more of my hama bead work here! >> Hama Hama <<

The entire meal consisting of 3 food items and 2 drinks costed $31! Very affordable considering the location and for the quality of food they offer. Plus, they don’t charge service or GST here. Awesommmeeee right? I’ll definitely go back for the truffle fries and maybe a pizza the next time. Definitely worth checking out! :)

The Pizza Place is located at Raffles City, #B1-16. Tel: 6336 1979

“Serving up a slice of New York City for 15 years since opening in 1996 in Singapore, The Pizza Place epitomizes the classic New York style pizza at its very best. Together with our ever-popular variety of pastas, baked rice, spicy Buffalo wings, fresh salads and finger foods, we have something for everyone to enjoy, every time. Visit us at our newly-renovated restaurant for a truly unforgettable gastronomic experience today!”

Prints & Florals

Cat print laptop case used as clutch & watercolor floral dress by To Love Kuvaa. Both from ASOS.

Something new I’ve been working on. Taking florals up a notch! I’m in love with this piece that I managed to finish today, still contemplating on whether the chain is too bold, but then again, I like bold. Bold is good.
