Sponsored Review : Mentholatum Deep Moist Lip Balm

If you suffer from chapped lips constantly and drinking more water doesn’t help, Mentholatum’s top selling lip balm in Japan, Deep Moist, might just be what you need! Deep Moist is well known in Japan for it’s premium hydrating ingredients at value pricing, as well as its elegant, ergonomic packaging design.

So, what goes into Deep Moist that makes it work?

  • Hyaluronic Acid, a premium ingredient that forms a smooth, moisture locking shield for softer, smoother lips.  It can hold 1000X its weight in water, or 6 litres of water with just 1g.
  • Shea Butter heals the skin, and gives a soft, pleasant texture to the lip balm.
  • Jojoba Oil gives pro-longed, whole day hydration to the lips.

Unlike other lip balms, Deep Moist comes in an innovative & unique oval-shaped container that fits the corners of the mouth well, making application as easy as a single swipe. No more lip balm beyond the lip line and blotched foundation near your lips!

TIP : Apply your lip balm before foundation/BB cream so accidental application of foundation on your lips can be cleaned up easily.

I have chapped lips most of the time no matter how much fluids I drink, so I’m glad Deep Moist does an excellent hydrating job. Check out the before and after shots!

My lips were instantly hydrated and looked much better with a slight sheen. The hydration lasts well through the day, and reapplication is only required after meals or perhaps if you spend all day in an air conditioned office.

I tried it and I love it, I’m sure you would too! xx

PS : This lip balm should be available at most pharmacies, but I know for sure that Watsons carries an extensive range of  Mentholatum’s products!

color-changing lip balm?

The Sample Store sent me these before I left for KL and I’ve been using them ever since. Figured I’d try something new this time instead of just letting words do the work. Here’s a really short video I recorded to show you girls the “magic” behind this color-changing lip balm. (Apologies for the “noob-quality”, I’m not exactly a video person.)

I love the strawberry balm, and the shimmer balm is great for night outs. Thumbs up for lip color without the icky feeling of wearing lipstick! These lip balms don’t just add a pretty pink to your lips, they also nourish & protect.

Enhanced with a natural beeswax formula, these balms contain shea butter, macadamia ternifolia nut oil, jojoba oil & aloe vera extract to keep lips moisturized, smooth & healthy. Vitamin E also acts as an anti-oxidant that softens & protects lips against the harmful environment.

Available in 3 variants: Strawberry , Fragrance Free, Shimmer. Retails for $7.50 at Watsons

Good luck girls! xoxo

sun lovin' with sunplay!

to be honest, i’ve never been a fan of sunscreen cos i’ve always found it troublesome, period. i mean, seriously, toner, moisturiser, then we spend maybe a half hour getting all dolled up before heading out. squeezing in a minute or two to slap on sunscreen, and then having to get it all off your hands… grrrrrrrr see my point?

thesamplestore sent me two products that would possibly change my take on messy sunscreen. the first being the Super Block liquid formulation with the highest sun protection of SPF 130PA+++! (it’s the smaller of the two) it’s a white milky liquid that comes out of a “squeeze bottle”, but dries clear and is suitable for use on both face & body. it smells like most makeup bases i’ve tried, a tad.. chalky? i can’t quite figure it out but i wouldn’t worry much about the scent. it is waterproof, light & non-greasy, but i’m not sure if i’d want to use the sunscreen in addition to moisturizer before make up. it doesn’t say if it is non-comedogenic tho, so those especially with oily skin might want to think about using this on your face. this is Watson’s top selling sunscreen!

the second product would be the UV Body Mist Sunblock. i call it  “sun-salvation in a can”. this one has a light, citrusy scent which actually somewhat made me think of air freshener at first.. i haven’t been sun-burnt the past few weeks so i can’t really say if it is effective in soothing sun burnt skin. the cool sensation only lasted a split second when sprayed on… it’s not greasy, but it doesn’t exactly disappear into your skin either. but hey it’s my skin’s protection against the sun so i won’t complain too much. this one is both waterproof & sweat proof. perfect for when playing outdoor sports & taking a dip in the pool!

sunblock, in a spray can. no more messy cleanups, no time-consuming complains cos even if you’re rushing to leave home, it’s as easy as throwing the can in your bag and spraying it on when you get the chance to. suddenly, i have no excuse not to use sunscreen. :)

the Super Block SPF 130PA+++ (35g) retails for $17.20 & the UV Body Mist SPF 80PA+++(150ml) retails for $17.90

if you want to protect your skin from premature aging, spray on some Sunplay!
