Steals from Cotton On!

Okay before anything, let me just say, this is not an advertorial of sorts, I was just really amazed at how low Cotton On has slashed its prices online! I got a whole box of stuff for under $30.

You can even get a playsuit for $2, it’s beyond ridiculous! I don’t even want to go into whether they are making a profit from this…

I saw these the last time I was at Rubi in Ion, was tempted but didn’t buy them. I saw these online and I just had to… They were $5 each. $15 to grow my “clutch” collection by 3, not bad.

This top, also $5! I’ve always wanted a casual loose tee that goes with jeans, shorts and leggings, not bad for a $5 find.

No prize for guessing how much this long sleeved top cost….. Yes, $5 too! This one is comfy! I have a similar one from Vero Moda but it’s a little too cropped to wear with leggings, this one does just fine! Comfy enough for sleeping in too.

AND! If you’re in Asia, you also enjoy FREE SHIPPING! Like I always say, good things are meant to be shared, that applies to bargain buys! xx

Oops, I Shopped.

…and Ben’s gonna start banning me from shopping again. he always does!

(but it has never been effective)

so i was supposed to have dinner with friends.. but, somehow my instincts were right again, dinner was cancelled a few hours before. the plan was to go down to taka, pop by the post office and run some errands, but when dinner got cancelled, i got lazy. and then i remembered it was wednesday and the post office here in yishun closes at 8! so i got the mails mailed out, hoping ben would come out to meet me for dinner. i was quite prepared to go down town anyways, but when ben said he was quite stuck in camp… the mood totally sunk. so i decided i was gonna stay in yishun and not venture out…

so i went to northpoint, grabbed a strawberry milk shake from sweet talk to comfort myself and popped into Pet Lovers! it’s pretty fun popping into the store… even when i’m not really buying anything… it’s like i have friends there… haha! wait till they actually see Baileys in person…

next stop? watsons. i bought the new mascara from Maybelline. not sure how good it is, but… we’ll see. i’m gonna throw out all my old mascaras. i hate it when they start getting clumpy, so annoying!

btw, i actually verified some prices when i was there… if you read my beauty book post on exfoliators, here’s a more accurate update. the CURE gel actually costs $42! NOT $30+! and the ginvera one is $16-ish if i remember correctly.

anyway, i still wasn’t quite satisfied. i hate dressing up and heading out for less than an hour… so i walked around and ended up in cotton on. i was actually just looking to buy ONE cardi, i ended up with… FIVE. they were 2 for $30! white, black, grey, a floral one, and i got another on sale for just $10. fyi, the floral one has an original price of $24.95. with a 2 for $30 deal, who could pass on that? i also got a pretty pink shirt dress (seen in the photo above) for just $10 too! gosh it’s so so comfy, now i want every color they have it in. sigh….

that’s the other panda we got the other day by the way, not that i actually used it tho.. i was just messing around. anyhoos, i better get to bed now, to sleep rather… i’m already sitting in bed and my eyes are dying to just close…

ps : on a random note, i kinda like my hair right now, somehow i only like my hair when it’s done up in braids… my fringe has grown out! finally! i’m fighting the urge to chop them. i shouldn’t, right? thoughts anyone?

alright, goodnight!

and expect more new item updates in the day! love love!

okay so i was Chic Girl of the week, and my photo made it to the latest issue of CHIC, along with the first 13 Chic Girls of the day!

page 80! :)

this isn’t a good photo… please go grab a copy, it’s only $2.80!

that photo was taken last year, and i have changed since then! well, my hair at least…

random ootd.

it’s from cotton on by the way. i shop for practically everything there. totally love it. i get tank tops for like $5 each when they’re on sale! talk about great deals! xx

retail theraphy

i got this top from cotton on for just $15!

it’s a tad too short to be a dress yes? hahahaha love it, it’s so ethnic looking!

anyway, i was at the Plaza Singapura outlet. you can get gladiator sandals for just $10! not sure if it’s applicable at all stores tho. but i reckon it’s for the last few sizes that they have…

service standards, or the lack of it.

the other day i was out shopping and passed by cotton on ( i won’t say which outlet)… they were having a massive sale so i decided to pop in. the place was packed with kiasu singaporeans all wanting to grab the last sizes but i managed to find a couple of tops i wanted to try. i saw this purple floral vintage looking top in a size M, and i knew for sure it’d be too big… in hope of getting a small size, i decided to ask one of the sales girls if she could check for sizes, this is roughly how the conversation went…

me : i really love this top but its a size M, way too large for me. would you still have a size small somewhere by any chance?

(not without even batting a lid she said)

sales girl : oh, no more already! the sizes are all outside!

me : i know they’re all outside, what about the fitting rooms? perhaps someone tried and it hasn’t been returned to the shelf?

sales girl : oh, that i’m not sure. you want you can go and find.

me : right, thanks.

it’s not like she was busy scampering around helping other customers with their needs, she was just standing there refolding the clothes. that shows just how much their customers mean to them. i personally have a thing for service standards, having been train for half a year at The Ritz Carlton and working there for over 2 years, i definitely know what service means and i get really pissed when people who are employed to serve customers simply do not do their jobs! it’s blooody annoying!

well i then decided i would try the medium anyway, cos i could do the alterations myself since i loved the top so much.

while i was queuing for the fitting room, another sales girl walked pass with the same top in her hands, it was a size XS. PERFECT! i grabbed it off her hands, but i was getting more mad because now i had the size i needed, and yet the sales girl didn’t even bother checking for me.

if that’s not bad enough, when i got closer to my turn, i saw yet another of the same top hanging on the fitting room door. i thought to myself, if that is a size small, that sales girl is seriously screwed. and what do you know? that was the very fitting room i went into when it came to my turn and the top was a size small. WOW.

when i was done trying the pieces i picked out, i went straight to another sales girl and asked for the manager or in charge. trust me, i was FUMING. so i told her about what a help her staff was and that i was seriously disappointed. but all she had to say was, “oh cos we’re also having a sale now so most of them are busy and they are not supposed to leave their stations unless i give them permission to”

for god’s sake, don’t tell me about leaving stations, and don’t tell me about being busy, thus having no time to attend to a customer’s needs. i’ve been there and done all that and gained lots of merits to boot.

the conclusion?

the service standards in singapore are just not there. really, it’s sad! people who do not have the passion to serve should never join the service industry. be it f & b or retail. cause apart from being a total grouch at work, you’re just gonna upset all the customers who expect you to do what you’re actually paid to do.

otherwise, just sit yourself behind a desk and deal with boring paper work. cause if you ask me, the service industry is where the real fun is.
