#smolpuplife

(From left to right) Pupperoni the dachshund, Bailey the tiny dachshund, Rover the beagle and Huskler the Siberian husky!

#smolpuplife?

It wasn’t even something I planned or preconceived; it sort of just happened? I started taking photos of Pupperoni, this goofball was a custom order for one of my customer of many years. (Thanks Nad!)

And it seemed to take on a life of it’s own in a way.

I mean… the second photo totally looked as if he was doing a yoga stretch… and I just started getting all these different ideas..

What if…

So I made a second dachshund, and then a beagle, and then a husky which Nad also requested for.

Then I thought, since I’m pretty much stuck at home I might as well expand my creativity right? STOP MOTION ANIMATION! I’ve never learnt how to do it, but I could at least try.

And this was the result! My first attempt at stop motion animation!

I thought it was cute, a little pupper trying to climb up on the sofa and falling over then getting up to climb again, happens all the time in real life right? But wait!

“What if that could translate to simple life lessons?”

What if kids and adults (why not) could actually learn something by watching these animated pups? And even if it was just a bunch of pups running across your screen, it would still make you stop and smile!

They love laundry day!

More daily occurrences, the tussle over the sofa

Taking these photos and making the videos sure does keep me amused, and I hope they will light up your day as well! I’ve created a playlist on YouTube so please do subscribe or come back to the blog for more #smolpuplife updates!

I would love for you to share #smolpuplife with your friends and put smiles on more faces! For those of you who are new to my blog,

“Hello and thank you for popping by!”

I make these pups, alpaccas, owls and a ton of other cute stuff and you can find them all here!

Thank you for supporting handmade!

The Bigger Plan.

“….I believe everything happens for a reason and is all part of a bigger plan. Everything has its own time and place, and I believe I am where I should be.” – New Year’s Day 2015.

4 weeks later, I am certain that everything that has happened in my life has led me to where I am and where I am supposed to be. Along the way, I learnt many life lessons, it wasn’t an easy transition after working from home for some 8 years, in fact, I never realised that it has been so long. What have I been doing the past 8 years? What if I did things differently? What if I led a different lifestyle and I never left the F&B industry in the first place?

Questions, too many to answer but I know one thing for sure; if I had lived any differently, I probably wouldn’t have met the people I got to meet, and the one thought that makes me cringe, what if I didn’t meet Robin? Thankfully, I did.

Us during NYE 2011

The truth is, in life you need that one person who doesn’t give up on you even when you’re close to giving up on yourself. Someone who sees your potential, someone who keeps pushing you to be a better person and doesn’t hesitate to tell you that you’re not being the best you can be. It can be hard to take in, but we need that truth.

Thank you for being that person for me, love.

All these years I took so much for granted, that I would get a job easily with my qualifications for one. It turned into a 6 month long journey before I found THE JOB I was looking for. Sure I got offers, but interview after interview, I realised those jobs wouldn’t put me in the right direction, I wouldn’t grow the way I want to, so I kept looking. I always enjoyed doing events, so I decided I would pick up where I left off. There were times when I felt lost and on the verge of falling back into complacency, but I made a decision and I was going to stick it out no matter what. I learnt not to readily accept everything that falls into my lap if it won’t help me grow, I learnt to not let people determine and tell me what I am worth. I learnt that I should never settle for comfortable, and if things get comfortable, it means that it is time for a new challenge. Today, I am in Reservations & Events for the TRE Group, handling reservations and events for Absinthe Restaurant FranÏ‚ais which is located at Boat Quay.

Where will this new adventure take me? Only time will tell, but I will put my best foot forward, every day. No job is easy, but having a job you enjoy waking up to and excelling at makes all the difference.

Since we’re on the topic of flowers and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, what IS everyone up to this Valentine’s? I definitely won’t be having a Valentine’s date since Robin will be out of town but if you haven’t made plans with your significant other yet, may I suggest you join me at Absinthe Restaurant FranÏ‚ais?

Sam The Dog (Link to pattern included)

A couple weeks back I was wrecking my brains trying to figure out what to gift to my niece who was turning 1, so I scoured through Pinterest and found a pattern for a “Sausage dog” designed by Michele Wilcox. I knew it’d be perfect since the body was perfect for tiny toddler hands!

Meet Sam the Dog!

I was a little skeptical about using such contrasting colors initially but I like how it turned out!

PS: I am trying out Shopify’s two week trial since I am unable to manage the current store on Yahoo due to technical incompatibilities, and will update again if that goes well.

If you’d like a custom order of something similar, feel free to drop me an email at jeaninegabrielle@gmail.com as jeanine@jeaninegabrielle.com may possibly be terminated if/when I move over to Shopify. I might be able to reinstate it but you can always reach me on Gmail! :)

Meanwhile, have a great weekend everyone! xx

On a side note, if any of you are wondering why the store @ jeaninegabrielle.com has not been updated in ages, it’s cause I have no technical access to it to make changes! Yahoo Sitebuilder runs only on Windows and I use a Mac, and since my Parallels refused to work and I haven’t been able to fix it, I’m in the midst of looking for alternative options. If any of you have good ideas on how I can move the store to another provider or how I can host my WordPress blog on my domain please do let me know, but for now all updates will be here on the blog! xx

Hello, my name is Amineko.

Took these a while back when we were at Kino, and since Spencer was spending the day out with us, we thought it’d be fun to get some cute snaps!

This is the book you should purchase if you’re looking to crochet your own Amineko. :)

20130518_192201_Fotor

Oh Spencer, you’re such a cutie even though you’re just a toy.

I’ve been wanting to work on more amigurumi but I simply haven’t had the time and focus to do it. Soon, I hope.

Meet Koko, The Baby Amigurumi Koala! (Free Pattern Included)

After swooning over pages filled with amigurumi cuties, I decided to give amigurumi a go. I can knit basics, I can crochet basics, so amigurumi shouldn’t be that hard (right?) But what should I try first? I was spoiled for choice because patterns are so readily available online, although the nicer ones would require you to fork out a couple of bucks. After scouring tons of amigurumi sites, I found a koala pattern which looked simple enough for an amateur. I managed to complete the pattern within a few hours, and the result was…

KOKO!

koko

A little baby koala! Koko’s just a little shy…

…but loves hiding and playing amidst my wedding bridal bouquets! ♥

For those of you who would like to crochet a koala of your own, here’s the pattern!

koala pattern

Do note that if you’re using safety eyes, you’d want to thread them on around row 7, but if you’re using beads you can figure out the positioning when you’re all done. I used 8 ply Marvel wool and a 2.5mm crochet hook.

Pattern credit to Woman’s Day. See the original pattern here
